001 wakanda
There's peace in Wakanda. Bucky had spent a little while under the ice while Shuri figured out a way to work on his deprogramming and while it's been a painful process, it's a necessary one and he's glad for all her work on the tangled knot that's HYDRA and the mess inside his brain. It's all wired incorrectly, a bomb that never went off but still needs to be defused, and he's scared every time she goes in there that something will go wrong and he'll attack her; it hasn't happened yet.
When he isn't working with her or Ayo, he has a little hut to himself where there are goats and sometimes children come visit him to see the curious white man who has taken up on the fringes of Wakandan society. Steve has visited a few times but when they announce a visitor this time, it's apparently not Steve. They're still at the palace being received, though, so Bucky takes the time to tidy up where he's been staying as much as he can one-handed; he's neat by nature but he also isn't used to having company come by either.
Who could it be? Sam? Sharon? Bucky isn't sure who would come to visit him aside from those two and Steve. Tony Stark certainly wouldn't and he isn't sure the Wakandan government would even let him in. Would Wanda come to see him? He's not certain. He imagines she's in hiding the same as he is, trying to avoid the Sokovia Accords and their inevitable consequences on her. It seems she's suffering more from them than anyone else, even himself, so he doesn't think she'd risk coming to see him.
He catalogs the other people he knows and he comes up with Natasha. He's got a strange history with her. He's shot her twice while the Winter Soldier but curiously, both times, he'd shot her non-fatally. It's almost as if he'd known that she needed to live even if he didn't know her and that's not what the Winter Soldier does. He doesn't leave loose ends. He kills whoever is necessary, even an innocent bystander, and Natasha has been actively opposing him both times he's encountered her. Even when he'd been activated by Zemo he'd attacked her but didn't take her down. There's something in him that protects her and he wonders why that is and always has. He doesn't know why she'd visit him but he wouldn't turn it down, either, so when he hears someone at the door he calls for them to come inside.
"Come in, I'm not busy." He's just finishing up wiping down a counter in what counts for his kitchen and when he comes into view of the visitor, he sees that it is Natasha. Curious.
"Hi."

When he gets back out to the couch, he sets her down carefully, and offers her a blanket before sitting down himself.
"Get in my lap and we'll watch something ridiculously sappy. Romantic comedy from the 90s?"

"That sounds perfect, do you have a favorite one yet? I know you probably have only gotten to see a couple of them so far..." she says curiously. She wants to know everything about this version of him, including his taste in sappy movies.

He likes the romantic ones almost as much as the heroic ones. He doesn't like war movies at all and sometimes the kids movies make him cry and he doesn't want to admit to that.

"I shouldn't be surprised that you like her still, I haven't seen Sleepless in Seattle in years though, so it sounds great."

Bucky messes around to get the movie pulled up and once it is, he pulls Natasha against him and holds her close, just enjoying the moment.

The TV says ‘ And then he held my hand. At one point I looked down and I couldn’t tell which fingers were his and which were mine. And I knew… I knew we would be together forever and that everything would be wonderful.’
Her heart races as she listens waiting to see if he squeezes back , or says anything or even notices that she set that up.

"I care about you so much, Natasha. I want to be like that. You know, the together forever and the wonderful stuff. Is that sappy of me?"

Natasha shifts in his lap a bit, turning away from the film. She squeezes his hand right back, looking at him a little bit more carefully giving him a soft smile.
"James Buchanan Barnes, I waited for you to come out of the ice without even knowing your name, if that's not sappy I don't know what is."

"Let's get you into bed," he says gently, putting her into bed and pulling the blankets up around her.

“You were the last man I did this with, just so you know,” she murmurs lovingly.

"Even if it means you just have to keep bringing me old files from Siberia so you have a reason to visit."

In the morning when he's still asleep she slips out of his arms and pulls on one of his t-shirts that just grazes the top of her thighs like a big night shirt. She tidy's the couch and sets the table before starting to make breakfast with what she can find in the fridge.

"You looking to cook or just eat something quick? Because I've got cereal," Bucky says. "But we could make breakfast, too."

"Sit your cute butt down, I'm going to make you breakfast for once," She says popping back up over the door with some breakfast staples. It won't be fancy but it will be good enough.

And he does, parking down in one of the chairs at the small kitchen table he has. Normally it's only ever set for one but he has the extra chair out since Natasha is visiting.

“They skipped the how to be a good house wife classes in the Red Room so you’ll just have to be a good house boyfriend while I save the world,” she smiles over her shoulder at him playfully and blows him a kiss. It’s all some fantasy, a joke, she really can’t believe they have time together like this and she’s going to enjoy it.
“Might even bring you a cute apron next time.”

Bucky realizes he said wife and tries to pretend he didn't, hoping that Natasha doesn't catch it or realizes it was just a joke. He does not want any mixed expectations flying around, especially when he'd do something insane like marry the woman on the spot.

"I bet you'd look really good in a frilly pink apron, but I might have to leave some marks on your ass from grabbing it the night before, or maybe a bite, something to really show it off if it's going to be all out there like that."

He actually believes that Natasha would do it just because she's not one to back down from a challenge but the thought of it is hilarious all the same.
"Would you at least be nice enough to do it when I was awake or are you gonna wake me up from a dead sleep to do it?"

"You know, sometime before I then roll you over and give you really good head, because you deserve that too."
